You Capture--Sweet

Each week, Beth over at I should be folding laundry hosts a photo challenge.  This week's You Capture theme is sweet.

I didn't take too many pictures at all this week, but I did manage a few that I was able to manipulate into fitting the theme. :-)

I found sweet smelling blossoms that will soon give way to apples.

More sweet smelling blossoms, this time lilacs.

Then there's Lola, looking really sweet and innocent, but I'm sure there's a chewed up toilet paper roll somewhere.  I may have included a shot like this before but she sits at the top of the stairs like this a lot and I think it's too stinkin' cute.

I've included this last shot because the colors reminded me of cotton candy and I really like the way this one came out.

I can't wait to check out everyone else's sweet photos.  You should head on over to Beth's to check them out too.

Seriously, go now!

If Anyone You Love Has Cancer

I have been trying to write a real post about this for days but I've had a headache all week and I really feel like I should stay away from the computer just in case my head explodes.  I promise I'll follow this up by the end of the week.

Until then, please check this post out by Deb at My Husband's Cancer.  If you or anyone you love has cancer, this is a MUST read.  Deb's site is full of usefel information for anyone going through this.

Now if you'll excuse me, I've got a bed and blackout drapes calling my name...

10 on the 10th

Meredith over at life at 7000 feet hosts a blog carnival each month.  She calls herself "listy" so the theme each month is simply a list of 10 things on the 10th.

Simple, right?  I always have big plans for 10 on the 10th each month, then all of a sudden it's the 15th....oops.

I was going to do a random list this month but Lola changed my mind this morning.

By 9:30 this morning, Lola had tried to take all of the below stuff outside with her.  Being the smart dog that she is, it just happened to be 10 things.

1.  My husband's shirt--Every morning when I let her out of the kennel she tries to grab anything she can to take downstairs with her.  Today she found Wayne's shirt (in case you're reading this Wayne, that's why we have a dirty clothes basket!)  If I'm awake enough, I grab it out of her mouth before she gets outside.  If I'm not, I end up chasing her around the yard trying to get my bra back (not kidding!)
2.  My slipper--She actually took it off my foot, walked over to the door and rang the bell like I'm really going to let her outside with my slipper!
3.  Leash--because you know, you she is going outside.
4.  Her rope--She tries this every day...
5.  Plastic cup
6.  Wood polish
7.  My shoe--She brought this down from upstairs too.  She put one on the stairs and tried to take the other outside.
8.  Rope ball
9.  Sponge--She can chew up a sponge in about 1.2 seconds flat.
10.  Towel

Lola is a hoarder, she already has a pile of junk in the yard including a towel, a Pepsi can and a ton of sticks!

So there you have it, my (lazy) 10 on the 10th list.

Head on over to Meredith's to see other lists!

You Capture--Comfort

Keli is hosting this week's You Capture again while Beth continues to cuddle baby Eli.

I loved this week's challenge, comfort.  I think mostly because most of what I shot this week falls into this category.

The leaves on the trees are feeling comfortable enough to start blooming.

I did not edit this one at all and I just love the way it turned out.  I'm starting to play around with the manual settings on my camera.

Wayne was talking to me while I made dinner Monday night.  I asked him if he needed to put his foot up. He said "No I'm comfortable, Lola doesn't mind."

Wayne's comfortable sharing the chair with Toby.

But Lola would rather have it all to herself.  I love that she looks so small in this shot, when in fact she's not.

Toby seems to think he's a cat, he's constantly walking, running or laying on the back of the sofa.  I love this picture, he just looks so comfy.

Bob was comfortable hiding in this box until Toby found him.

This one is great because as comfortable as Lola looks, Lucky (the cat) is equally uncomfortable with her being that close to him.

What's more comfortable than laundry fresh out of the dryer?
Toby: "Put the damn camera down and help me, Mama!"
Lola: "What's the big deal??"

The beams above the living room is the cats' favorite place to be because the dogs can't get to them.  It has startled more than one visitor.

This one is probably my favorite.  Sure, they look comfortable but that's not the reason. But I find comfort in the fact that Lola isn't dragging Toby around by the collar while Lincoln's barking at the leaves blowing through the front yard.....all three of them are quiet.  This happens so rarely, you may remember what Lola was up to this weekend.  It doesn't even bother me that my sofa cushion is mysteriously flipped over so you see the zipper, ok, it bothers me a little.
I also love that Toby's looking at me like "Dude whatever you do, don't. wake. her. up."

Without You Capture I probably wouldn't have taken all of these pictures this week and i just love them.  If you haven't checked it out yet, do it NOW.  If you've checked it out, but haven't participated, what the heck are you waiting for?

Lola's Easter Diet

Easter was pretty uneventful for us so instead of boring you with all that, I thought I'd tell you what Lola ate this weekend in addition to her (very expensive) puppy food.

Thursday--

It's never good when I walk into the living room and see this....

then this at the bottom of the stairs....

and this at the top of the stairs...
She somehow got into the bathroom closet and dragged my pajama pants out....

How in the heck did that piece end up on the spindles?
Here's where the toilet paper is supposed to be......
See that little piece of cardboard?  That's all that is left of the entire roll.  She doesn't just chew on it, she eats it whole!!

She was just driving me crazy Thursday, she tore up three rolls of toilet paper and found the dirty clothes basket and brought every item downstairs piece by piece.  I finally went out to get some chinese food for lunch.  When I got home, I sat down on the sofa and started eating when Lola came in with something in her mouth.  It was the fortune cookie that came with my meal...still in the plastic.

Apparently, three rolls of toilet paper is not enough to fill up a 65 pound puppy because when I ran into the kitchen I found that she ate the rest of my food, including an egg roll and packets of soy sauce and duck sauce.  The amazing thing is she didn't even knock it onto the floor...she ate it right off the counter!
Shortly after that Wayne got home.  I told him about our day, he looked at Lola and said "Have you been a little hellion today?"
"Who, me???"

Saturday--We had no plans for Easter but for some reason I felt compelled to make this stupid bunny cake.  As soon as I finished it, Wayne needed help putting his surgical boot back on so I went to help him.

When I came back Peter (Cottontail) was missing part of his bowtie.  And Lola had frosting all over her chin.

Sunday--she woke me up at 6am (waaaaay too early for me).  I fed her and was eating my breakfast in the living room when I heard something in the kitchen.  Yep, she helped herself to more of Peter's bowtie.

She ate it right through the plastic wrap!
Just so you know, the cake was pushed as far back on the counter as I possibly could and I was not eating the bowtie, we ate his ears.

I quickly put her back outside.  A few minutes later I saw this out of the bathroom window.

She ate half of the lawn mower seat.  Half. of. the. lawn. mower. seat.

Monday--She must really like cake for breakfast because she just about finished off Peter's bowtie.

This has nothing to do with her diet, but Monday afternoon I decided to trim her nails and I got a little too close...oops...I felt bad, but I have to admit my first reaction was "That's what you deserve!"

As I was typing this post, she found a paper towel somewhere and went to town shredding it into a million pieces.

I love that dog, but boy does she keep me busy.  I've had dogs that chew things.  I had to keep my shoes in a dresser drawer for a couple years after we got Lincoln, we have to keep all towels away from Toby.  But I have never had a dog that eats everything. in. sight.

On the bright side, we don't have to buy a paper shredder.
