You Capture--Feet

This week's You Capture is being hosted by Keli because Beth just gave birth to an adorable little boy.

This week's theme is feet.

Usually we are focused on keeping track of what these feet are doing.

But for about a week, this house has revolved around one foot....

It's really not as happy as it seems, it's just putting on a good face. (I crack myself up sometimes.)

Wayne had surgery last Friday, the Dr. drew a smiley face so we would know where to put the ice.  Let's hope he's a better surgeon than artist.

After I took that photo it reminded me of my foot.
The above picture is reason #4329 that my neighbors think I'm crazy.  The only patch of green grass is in the middle of the front yard so there I stand with my blue jeans rolled up mid-calf, bent over, taking pictures of my feet at 7:00p.

I'm sure other people will have shots of super cute baby feet, so go check it out

Cruisin'

They say kids grow up in the blink of an eye.  But I really didn't expect him to be driving at 2 1/2.  It seems like just yesterday I watched him come into this world.

This is my cousin Vickie's son, Tyler.  He is technically not my nephew, but I refer to him as my nephew and he calls me Aunt Missy.  Well actually it's more like Ann Meeen, but you get the point.  You'd think I might not be too happy essentially being called Aunt Mean but my other nephew called me Aunt Piss for at least a year so I'm pretty dang thrilled with Aunt Mean.

I had to take Vickie to an appointment today.  We have had beautiful spring weather lately so we went outside with Tyler.  The instructions given to him by Vickie was "show Aunt Missy how you drive lightning", so he did.

How stinkin' cute is he with one hand on the wheel and one on the gear shifter?

He drives just like his Ann Meeen

Ouch!

Uh-oh....stuck...

And he's off again

His Mom told him that I was leaving and to come give me hugs.  He said "noooooo"

Then he actually got out of lightning, gave me two hugs then took my hand and walked me to my car....um...I guess it was time for me to go.....

This is when I ask you to pick sides

A lot of people say that the key to a successful marriage is communication.  Well, it's a good thing we love each other because communication is definitely not our strong suit.

Sunday morning Wayne started freaking out because he only had one pill left.  I told him to leave me the debit card and I'll get it Monday.

Monday afternoon I drove to Iowa City (about 40 min away) to get his prescription.  On the way home I noticed that the gas tank was at a little less than 1/4 tank but I forgot the debit card on the table so I decided to just go home and get gas in the morning.

Wayne leaves the house at 4:30a so he is long gone by the time I roll out of bed at 7:30ish.

Somewhere around 10a Tuesday morning I started looking for my phone and quickly realized I must have left my purse in the Tahoe Monday night.  When I went outside I was surprised to see that he had taken the Tahoe to work and left me the Impala.

We don't have a home phone, so I had no phone, no money or debit card and  my Impala keys were in my purse.  You might recall that this in not the first time this has happened.  I pretty much reacted the same way I did the last three times...I moaned, whined, sulked and pouted the rest of the day.

Wayne usually gets home around 6p, so at 6:15p I started getting a little concerned.  I started to worry a bit at 6:30p.  By 6:45p I was in complete freak out mode.

One minute I was mad at him for taking off with my purse and 10 seconds later I was all what if he got hurt at work and they can't get a hold of me and Randy's out of town and no one else knows where we live or  what if he got in a car accident and they police are looking for me at the old house because we haven't changed our licenses yet.  I decided to give him until 7p then I'd go to the neighbor's and ask to use their phone.

At about 6:56p Wayne walked in and held up my purse.  I looked at him and said "yeah you screwed me again, huh?"

He said "excuse me, screwed you?  I didn't notice I had it until I called you to come get me because I ran out of gas on the highway."

We just stood there looking at each other for a while then he said that he didn't know it was low until the low fuel light came on when he pulled into work.

I asked him why he didn't get gas before he got on the highway.

I just about came unglued when he said "I didn't have the debit card."

The dogs jumped when I screamed "But you had my purse!".

"Yeah, I know that now..."

This actually happened last week and we both still think that the other one is in the wrong.  Neither one of us has apologized....

Edited to add:  We were (and still are) totally laughing about it, I should have made that clear, but neither of us are taking responsibility for it.  We actually stood there for a while, both still upset at the other and not wanting to be the first to laugh!!

**Note** A very nice lady ended up asking Wayne if he needed help while he was walking to the gas station.  She drove him to the gas station, lent him her gas can and drove him back to the Tahoe.  I'm very thankful that she was brave enough to help him out.

Coincidentally, Wayne would kill me if I ever told him that I picked up some strange guy on the side of the highway.

You Capture--A Moment

Beth over at I should be folding laundry hosts a weekly photo challenge.  This week's theme is A Moment.

I have been waiting for this moment for the past month.

I know doing dishes doesn't look too exciting, but it was a great moment for two reasons.

One month ago my kitchen looked like this.

And....it's not me doing the dishes!!!

A little over a month ago, I won a bet and now he owes me a month's worth of dishes!!

I have to tell you, I was absolutely giddy when I took this picture last night.

Now if I could just get him to do laundry...I'd probably be doing backflips in the front yard!

Head on over to Beth's to check out everyone else's moments.

You Capture--Hopeful

Beth over at I should be folding laundry hosts a weekly photo challenge.  This week's assignment is hopeful.

I had an entirely different post written with a bunch of pictures but that changed when I got a call from my Dad Wednesday morning that my Uncle Kenny died of an apparent heart attack.  Suddenly the silly pictures of my dogs and other stuff just didn't make sense and quite frankly I wasn't feeling too darn hopeful.

In fact I've been so busy since than that I really didn't even think about You Capture until yesterday afternoon.  On our way home from the funeral I saw the sun shining brightly through the clouds in one spot.  This is pretty fitting because uncle Kenny was always the one that could make us laugh no matter what and always stood out in a crowd with his...um...colorful dressing (more on that maybe tomorrow).

I feel like he's telling us that it's ok....that he's ok.

And that makes me hopeful....

I am hopeful that my Grandma will once again learn to live her life after burying a son.
I am hopeful that my aunt Joanie will learn to live her life without her husband of 33 years.
I am hopeful that we will find peace.
I am hopeful that eventually we will find comfort in the fact that he didn't suffer.
I am hopeful that he has been reunited with his dad and brother.

Head on over to Beth's to check out everyone else's hopeful photos.
